Now in its ninth year, the Quebec City Conference (QCC) is a private, invitation-only, not-for-profit annual meeting designed for institutional and strategic investors; sovereign wealth funds and family investment offices; leading international venture capital and private equity firms; and also for public policy makers, industry experts and leading academics supportive of long-term investment activity producing societal benefit, in a format intended for high-level exchange and reflection.
In 2011, the QCC was pleased to accept 451 participants from 30 countries. No other conference of this kind exists anywhere else in the world.
In recent events, speakers at the main Conference have included Stephen Schwarzman, Co-founder and CEO of Blackstone; Michael Spence, the 2001 Nobel Prize Laureate in Economic Sciences; VC and private equity pioneer Alan Patricof; Henry Kravis, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR); David M. Rubenstein, Co-founder of The Carlyle Group; Glenn Hutchins, Co-founder of Silver Lake; James Coulter of TPG Capital, Charles R. (Chip) Kaye, Co-President, Warburg Pincus; William Draper III of Draper Richards; Josh Lerner, Professor at Harvard Business School; and The Right Honourable Brian Mulroney, former Prime Minister of Canada.
In addition to the main Conference, to be held from 5:00 pm on Wednesday, October 24th until 6:30 pm on Thursday, October 25th, the Quebec City Conference also comprises special forums targeted to the needs of the main investor groups attending QCC. Each forum is by-invitation-only and is scheduled to start with cocktails and dinner on Tuesday, October 23rd, and end with the conclusion of programming on Wednesday the 24th at 5:00 pm, just prior to the opening of the broader Conference.
Finally, the Quebec City Conference is partnering with Thomson Reuters to offer the “QCC-Thomson Reuters Partner Connection Program” to the attendees. This program is a series of targeted one-on-one meetings between “LPs” (i.e. institutional investors, family offices and funds of funds) and “GPs” (private equity and venture capital). The meetings are arranged based on surveys of these LPs and GPs to determine the most appropriate matches for them.
QCC is a not-for profit corporation supported by the Governments of Quebec, Ontario and Canada, and by private sponsors.
